I write to give an update on the current position of the Town Council.

The last three weeks have seen the remaining 11 Councillors working hard, alongside SALC (Suffolk Association of Local Councils). We are grateful to SALC for all their advice and support.

All 11 remaining Councillors are positive about the future of the Town Council and are looking forward to building a strong organisation for the benefit of Needham Market and its community. Mayor, Terry Lawrence and I, are very grateful for their response to the situation we have found ourselves in and for their work and enthusiasm in progressing what needs to be done to get us there.

We have held two Extraordinary Town Council Meetings and a Community and Assets Committee Meeting and more detail on these will be available in July’s newsletter and via minutes.

Cllr John Reardon, Deputy Chair of Needham Market Town Council

24.05.2024

I write to announce that from the early part of this week, commencing 19th May, Needham Market Town Council has received resignations or retirement notices, with immediate effect, from four councillors, the Clerk and the Responsible Finance Officer.

The remaining councillors are working with SALC to maintain the council and move forwards.

No further statements will be issued until sensitive issues are concluded.

Terry Lawrence, Chair of Needham Market Town Council.
